Cricket Club bowled over with Dan’s Trust funding
Ribblesdale Wanderers Cricket and Bowling Club (RWCBC) is in the Ribble Valley in Clitheroe, Lancashire. RWCBC provides facilities for ALL age groups and ability of Cricket and Crown green bowls.
The club has identified very clear plans for 2021 and beyond. With the key element of the clubs Development Plan – Cricket Coaching, for both the senior and junior players and teams.
As an ECB Clubmark club, it’s essential that the club deliver a relevant and structured coaching programme across all aspects of the cricket section. Both internally and also with local schools.
The club prides itself on its relationship with local schools. They see it as essential that they offer a quality programme to local youngsters who may wish to join or return to the club. It’s equally essential that we offer quality coaching to the senior playing members as we look to remain a high performing Ribblesdale Cricket League club. Particularly at 1st team level.
Ribblesdale believe a comprehensive coaching programme not only keeps senior players at the club but also attracts volunteers and new players.
Junior Coaching:
A weekly coaching programme delivered y ECB qualified coaches. Ensuring all aspects of the game are covered and relevant DBS and safeguarding in place.
Allow junior players to learn new skills in a way that is relevant to their current level of development. This is vital to ensure skill development and fun.
Aspects of the game can be broken down into :
Technical – learning the basics of technique and developing the technique.
Tactical – learning the tactics of the game.
Physical – having the right physical development to play the game – Agility, balance and co-ordination along with core strength.
Mental – developing concentration, clear thinking, mental toughness.
Lifestyle – developing knowledge on a healthy lifestyle, nutrition.
A weekly programme to cover all the above over the summer (and pre-season). The club’s recent investment of a 3 lane non-turf cricket facility allows the club to get the most out of the season in terms of practice on the outfield and appropriate match play on the square. It’s the expectation that junior practice goes ahead every Friday evening (120 minutes), irrespective of the weather. Where coaching videos and resources can be used to maximise learning opportunities.
The club relies on grants and the support of local business to help fund this coaching programme which is vital to benefit the youth players especially with their cricket development.
Dan’s Trust has helped with the continued cricket development programme for the remainder of 2021 and 2022. The cost for this programme per year is approx. £4,600.00.
Dan’s Trust has given the club a substantial donation towards this programme and hope we can form a long standing relationship and help the club further with its ambitions.
