Trustee – Dr Amanda Varnava

Dan’s Trust Trustee Dr Amanda Varnava MA, FRCP, MD is a Consultant Cardiologist, lead for Inherited Cardiac Conditions and Head of Service for cardiac services at Imperial College Healthcare Trust.

Medically training with Honours at Oxford University and St Bartholomew’s Hospital, she went on to train at The Royal Brompton Hospital & St George’s Hospital. It was here that  she undertook an MRC research fellowship.

A consultant cardiologist and honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College, Dr Varnava is the lead for Inherited Cardiac Conditions. She runs a busy service, seeing over 2000 adult and paediatric patients a year.

Sports Cardiology: Member of the Football Association expert advisory panel and cardiologist to premiership football teams including Arsenal and Watford.

Cardiology in Pregnancy: Dr Varnava runs a specialist pregnancy and heart disease service and has extensive experience in managing patients with heart failure.

Her research interests are in the non-invasive risk stratification of the sudden death syndromes. Especially Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and Brugada syndrome.

She is council member for the Association of Inherited Cardiac Conditions.  As well as expert advisor to Cardiomyopathy UK. Regularly lecturing at international meetings and published widely in leading medical journals.

Dr Varnava is also the Trust lead for cardiac sarcoid disease and runs a multi-disciplinary service.
